Coaching begins with discovering how we fit during our initial complementary meeting. After that, the focus of our sessions will be guided by you and whatever is present for you that day. Our sessions may include combinations of conversation, meditation, mindfulness strategies, breathwork, values and beliefs exercises, identifying growth outcomes, coping strategies, and the ever important but often overlooked psychoeducation, where you will learn why, physiologically, you are feeling like you are.
No! Anyone who needs to develop coping skills, reduce stress, address guilt and shame, manage physical symptoms from a wrecked nervous system, or find meaning and purpose in their lives will benefit. Literally any adult person who knows there must be a better way can benefit from coaching.
The increased ability to tolerate distress, greater relaxation ability, a cut through the mental noise, better emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness (communication, setting boundaries), self-compassion, self-care, and resilience when the tough times come, as they will for us all.
While I am trained, experienced and deeply invested in considering the impact of trauma it is important to note that I am not a therapist. I do not diagnose, label or treat mental health conditions. Good coaching is centered on a salutogenic approach – focusing on health, well-being and assets as opposed to the pathogenic, or disease-centered, approach. Also, coaching is anchored in the present, not the past, and is client-led with coach and client on an equal peer-to-peer level.
